ARTA stands for Autobacs Racing Team Aguri, and the company has a competition history dating back to 1998. The business has a close relationship with Honda, including campaigning two new Prelude-GTs in Japan's Super GT series.

The company is now bringing its performance capabilities to the road with the new ARTA GT, with a public premiere at the recent 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon. The machine is a heavily tuned current-generation Civic Type R, and ARTA is only building 20 of them as kits.

ARTA makes several mechanical upgrades to make sure the GT is sharper than the standard Civic Type R. Unfortunately, the builder isn't disclosing the revised engine's output, but it is disclosing several powertrain upgrades. The GT features an HKS ECU, sports turbine kit, oil cooler kit, intercooler kit, and exhaust. Those revisions should free up at least a few horsepower. A six-speed manual still sends the output to the front wheels, but a Cusco type-RS mechanical limited-slip differential helps put the power down.

While the stock CTR uses Brembo brakes, the GT gets AP Racing PRO 5000R six-piston front calipers and 365-millimeter two-piece front rotors. Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RZ tires replace the standard car's Michelin rubber. The suspension now uses a KW 2-way adjustable damper and spring kit.

The vehicle's goal is to adapt elements from the Civic Type R Super GT 500 race car for the road-legal CTR. To make them look more alike, the body kit includes a new front bumper with a revised splitter and canards on the outer edges. The hood gains additional vents, and there are outlets behind the bulging fenders. Wide side sills guide air along the vehicle's flanks, and the rear fenders have more muscular flares. A tall wing attaches to the rear deck, and an aggressive diffuser incorporates two wide exhaust tips into the center.

ARTA makes sure to keep the GT exclusive by producing just 20 of these kits and also pricing them at $85,480 (13,500,000 yen) each. While that would be expensive enough, the company's English-language announcement specifies: "This price is for the custom kit, installation, and painting in your vehicle's factory color, based on the customer providing their own Honda Civic Type-R (FL5)."

For context, a CTR starts at $31,655 (4,997,300 yen). Therefore, converting a brand-new CTR would cost approximately $117,000, which is well over three times more than the stock vehicle.
